YOU MUST BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TE SEE IN THE WORLD- MAHATMA GANDHI


You must be the change you wish to see in the world.- Mahatma Gandhi
So many of us have heard and been moved by Gandhi's quote. But even as we have quoted, cited, coached it and counseled with it, we don’t often hear the story behind it.
Among the hundreds of people were waiting to visit with Mahatma Gandhi were a mother and her young son. When it was their turn, the woman asked Gandhi to speak with her son about eating sugar.
Gandhi asked her to come back in two weeks and said he would talk to the boy then. She wondered why he didn’t just speak to her son when he was already there, but she complied with his request.
In two weeks they returned, and after waiting for a couple of hours, she was able to approach Gandhi once again.
Hearing her repeated request, Gandhi immediately spoke with the boy, who agreed to begin working to eliminate sweets. After thanking Gandhi for his wise and compassionate words, the mother asked him why he wanted them to return instead of offering his advice the first time.
Gandhi replied, “Upon your visit two weeks ago I too was eating sugar.” He explained that he could not speak of or teach her son to not eat sugar if he himself had not taken that journey.
Whatever changes you would like to effect in our society has to begin with you.
Let your every moment be an example of what you teach and counsel.
Let your every action be a reflection of your beliefs.
Let your every word be reflective of your own thoughts.
The best leaders the world has ever known are the reformers who were accountable and responsible for their own change.
The commitment for change has no days off, does not allow for excuses, does not allow for pardons.
It’s a true commitment—a commitment to lead with heart to add value to the world.
Changing our face can change nothing. But facing our change can change everything.

SELF MOTIVATION- BELIEVE IN YOURSELF


Belief in yourself is the beginning of self motivation and achieving your dreams. Without a solid belief in your own potential and abilities, you are doomed to failure and mediocrity.


Self Motivation Fact #1 - YOUR DEEPEST FEAR IS THAT YOU CAN BE GREAT.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

I believe that quote sums it all up. Many people are simply afraid to think of themselves as anything but average. The truth is – most people are average. The truth is also that most people don’t use their average ability. Most people live below their average ability.
That means that even if you just utilized your average ability you could probably achieve great things. It doesn’t take much to excel in a below average world. 

Self Motivation Fact # 2 - YOU HAVE UNLIMITED POTENTIAL.

Potential is simply what you can do, but have not yet done.
Myles Munroe in his inspirational book “Understanding Your Potential” defines potential as:
“…All you can be but have not yet become…all you can do but have not yet done…how far you can reach but have not yet reached…what you can accomplish but have not yet accomplished. 
Potential is unexposed ability and latent power.

You must understand that every human being is born with unlimited potential. There is a vast pool of untapped ability in each one of us. The only question is – are you willing to seek it out and bring it to fruition?
If you believe, like I do, that there is a God and that he created you, then you won’t find it hard to believe that you were created with vast ability and potential. God, after all, made man “in his own image.” He made YOU in his own image. If God made you in his own image, then you must be very much like God in a lot of ways. Then to say that you are limited in your potential or that you don’t have much ability to excel would be to insult God’s intelligence and ability.
That is where my self-esteem and belief in my ability comes from. I was made by the greatest being in the Universe. That is where most “self-esteem” movements fail. Self-esteem has got to have a basis. It’s got to “hang” onto something. Self-esteem without this solid foundation is potentially dangerous and destructive. However, with God as your anchor you can do anything. 

Self Motivation Fact # 3 - THE MOST IMPORTANT OPINION ABOUT YOU IS YOUR 
OWN.

“The only thing that matters is what you think of yourself. In as much as you believe it, it is what you live by. It is your personal truth.”
Okay I wrote that one (feel free to quote me), but it basically sums up what I believe about the subject of believing in oneself. It doesn’t matter what your parents, teachers, peers, employer or any one else thinks of you. What matters is what you think of yourself. If you believe what others say about you, good or bad, you are lost. Have your own opinion of who you are. That way That way YOU are in control.
Don’t be defined by someone else. Define yourself. Believe in yourself. Hey if you don’t, who is going to?
God believes in you. Why shouldn’t you believe in yourself?

Self Motivation Fact # 4 – YOU CAN CHART YOUR OWN COURSE.

The good news is – there is another way. Chart out your own course. Break out of the mould. Listen to that small inner voice. It knows more about you than you can imagine.
You can be an original, not a copy. If you are dissatisfied with life could it be because deep down you have a feeling that there is more to it than what you are experiencing? Is it possible that that still small voice is trying to tell you to “get up and be the person you should be!”

THINGS WILL GET BETTER






Just think how happy you would be if you lost everything you have right now, and then got it back again.
For all of the people who keep waiting for things to get better -- stop.
Stop waiting. You're losing time, whether you are enjoying this moment or not. This is it. It is all you have, so wake up. Live.
I know people who have spent the past two years overwhelmed by stress and fear, and at the end of it, what do they have to show for it? Two lost years.
These difficult days are demanding far more from us than we've ever been expected to deliver. The daily news will give you a dose of despair because, let's face it: Things aren't looking good. Nobody knows when the economy will settle down, when everybody will go back to work, when people will start spending, when the real estate market will rebound, when our retirement accounts will look like we can actually retire.
Nobody knows any of that.

But, I know this: If I don't find fulfillment in this day as uncertain as it may be it will be lost to me. If I don't find happiness in this day and every day like it, I won't get a do-over. This is it. I'll be a day older, then a year older, then ten years older, and I will have wasted precious time that I did not need to waste.
No matter how dark your circumstances, life is happening. Do you take time to see how much you have, even as you cope with all that has changed and what you may have lost?  
All is not lost. The things that have changed have hit our core feelings about security, self-worth and the future. But there is much more to this moment of chaos than crisis.  Many times, after falling, we lie there waiting on someone to help us to our feet.  But the truth is that most times, we can get up without assistance. Only the aged and the malnourished break bones when they experience a simple fall. So why lie there and wait for sympathy, when you have the freedom and the ability to get up? 
     Perhaps your pride is more hurt than your body.  Perhaps the wind is knocked out of you, and it takes a while to recuperate.  You see, when you set your mind to do something, you become disappointed if you do not do it, so the wind is knocked out of you.  Maybe you were  expecting a “yes,” but  got a “no.”  If you are not careful, this can knock the wind out of you too.  
     If you fail temporarily, do not cease striving!   When you stop to think about it, that really is true. We never really fail, we simply quit trying.  So if you want to be successful at becoming a better disciplined person, just keep at it! I am sure it will help you to remember the proverbial saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!”
     Just because you do not succeed the first time you attempt something does not mean it is not meant for you. When we fall or fail, it simply suggests that we were not prepared well enough. Failure, no matter how you look at it, results from insufficient preparation. If you fail a test in school, that does not mean you are dumb. It means you did not prepare yourself well enough to pass.  A lack of preparation will always cause you to do poorly.
     So if you do not succeed at first, prepare more thoroughly for the next attempt.  Catch your breath.  Pick up yourself, and learn to move on to victory! When you are fighting a war, you are going to lose some of the battles. But a lost battle is no indication of the outcome of the war!  Every time you lose a battle, stop to regroup. Wait, so you can clear your head and get a new perspective. Map out new strategies.  Evaluate your past mistakes, so you can correct them or at least avoid repeating them.  Use your fall for good. There is always something to be learned from it.

If you have fallen or failed in any area of your life, do not despair. You were not the first to fall, and you will not be the last.  If you have fallen, all you need is a fresh start.  That is what repentance does for us. It gives us a fresh start with God. I liken it to the fact that the sun goes down every day. All the failures and bad experiences can be left in that day.  Then in the morning, we have a fresh start!  It is a new day, a day to be better and to do better.

BE AUTHENTIC, BE YOUR TRUE SELF

I think that one of the best tips for improving your social skills is to behave in a congruent manner and communicate in an authentic way. People seem to really like authentic communication. And there is much inner enjoyment to be found when your thoughts, words and actions are aligned. You feel powerful and good about yourself.
When words and thoughts are aligned then that shows through in your communication. Because now you have your voice tonality and body language – some say they are over 90 percent of communication – in alignment with your words.
With these channels in alignment people tend to really listen to what you’re saying. You are communicating without incongruency, mixed messages or perhaps a sort of phoniness.
Also, if your actions aren’t in alignment with what you’re communicating then you start to hurt your own belief in what you can do. And other people’s belief in you too.


MAINTAIN THE CAPACITY TO FORGIVE

we must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive, he who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. there are some good in the worst of us and some bad in the best of us, when we discover this we are less prone to hate our enemies.

Fighting evil with evil won’t help anyone. And as said in the previous tip, you always choose how to react to something. When you can incorporate such a thought habit more and more into your life then you can react in a way that is more useful to you and others.

You realize that forgiving and letting go of the past will do you and the people in your world a great service. And spending your time in some negative memory won’t help you after you have learned the lessons you can learn from that experience. You’ll probably just cause yourself more suffering and paralyze yourself from taking action in this present moment.


If you don’t forgive then you let the past and another person to control how you feel. By forgiving you release yourself from those bonds.

YOU ARE IN CONTROL

What you feel and how you react to something is always up to you. There may be a “normal” or a common way to react to different things. But that’s mostly just all it is.
You can choose your own thoughts, reactions and emotions to pretty much everything. You don’t have to freak out, overreact of even react in a negative way. Perhaps not every time or instantly. Sometimes a knee-jerk reaction just goes off. Or an old thought habit kicks in.

And as you realize that no-one outside of yourself can actually control how you feel you can start to incorporate this thinking into your daily life and develop it as a thought habit. A habit that you can grow stronger and stronger over time. Doing this makes life a whole lot easier and more pleasurable.

CHANGE YOURSELF TO CHANGE THE WORLD

If you change yourself you will change your world. If you change how you think then you will change how you feel and what actions you take. And so the world around you will change. Not only because you are now viewing your environment through new lenses of thoughts and emotions but also because the change within can allow you to take action in ways you wouldn’t have – or maybe even have thought about – while stuck in your old thought patterns.

And the problem with changing your outer world without changing yourself is that you will still be you when you reach that change you have strived for. You will still have your flaws, anger, negativity, self-sabotaging tendencies etc. intact.


And so in this new situation you will still not find what you hoped for since your mind is still seeping with that negative stuff. And if you get more without having some insight into and distance from your ego it may grow more powerful. Since your ego loves to divide things, to find enemies and to create separation it may start to try to create even more problems and conflicts in your life and world.

YOU WERE BORN FOR A PURPOSE


Everything that exists has a purpose. My computer has a purpose, my shoes have a purpose, my watch has a purpose, if I had a dog, he or she would have a purpose, and most importantly, you have a purpose.
You showed up on this planet for a reason. Maybe you showed up to sing, or to dance, or to teach, or to write, or to entertain, or to act, or to talk, or to cook, or to paint, or any other thing, but you showed up for a reason. There’s a purpose that you came here to fulfill. Don’t “sell out!”
In other words, don’t settle for a life of doing a mundane job that you’re not passionate about. You only live once, you must live your life to the fullest; you must die empty.
Don’t buy into the thinking that it’s too hard to become a singer or whatever else you’re passionate about. It’s exactly that thinking that will make it appear like an impossible task, and your perception will become your reality.
Yes, it will take work; you and I both know that anything worth achieving is going to take a ton of work, but we also know that it will be worth it in the end.
Everyone is born a diamond in the rough; we just need to be uncovered. The truth is, if anyone else can succeed in this world, so can you. No one is any better than you.
So don’t sell out! No matter how long it takes, I don’t care if it takes the next 45 years; you owe it to your creator and to yourself to live out your intended purpose.
You will never be truly happy until you’re doing what you were created to do. Yes, you may be able to settle and push your feelings of dissatisfaction to the side, but there’s nothing like the exhilaration of doing what you love and watching others benefit from it. Even if you never make a dime from it…the joy of doing what you love is priceless.

Even natural-born hunters like lions must spend years practicing before they’re any good. It’s definitely going to take a lot of work to live your passion. Probably many hours for many years, but when you’re doing what you love, you’ll enjoy it, and you’ll work hard to ensure that it doesn’t take you forever to succeed.

You’ve probably heard the story of the guy who wanted to be a doctor, but was unwilling to go back to school for eight years. When asked by his friend why he wasn’t going to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor he said, “I would love to become a doctor, but I would have to go back to school for eight years, and in eight years I’m going to be 40 years old! His wise friend responded, “Well, how old will you be in eight years if you don’t go back to school?”
The point is the years will go by, the time will pass, you will eventually get into your future; make sure you arrive there having accomplished what you were created to accomplish. So what if it takes you a little longer than normal, so what if you succeed at 60 instead of 16, will it matter at 60? No. The only thing that will matter is if you sold yourself short, if you settled for mediocrity when you were born for greatness.

In conclusion, do what you were created to do, even if you must do it while you’re working your “9-5” job, with seven kids, a dog, and a hamster. Make the time; nothing is more important. The world needs what you have, and the world is waiting for you to be manifested. Success will be yours when you do!

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN TANZANIA



A majority of Tanzanians live off the land - what grows from its soil, and the species that roam it. But these resources are scarce. Today, a host of problems are hindering environmentally sustainable development in the country, whether on land or at sea.
Illegal and unsustainable deforestation

A majority of Tanzanians rely on wood and agricultural residues for their energy needs, causing deforestation and environmental degradation. The problem, of course, doesn’t stop there. Deforested areas no longer provide a home for wildlife - leading to biodiversity loss - and are also susceptible to soil erosion.

In 2007, TRAFFIC showed that organized illegal timber crime is causing millions of dollars worth of timber revenue to be lost each year in Tanzania. Who’s fault? Poor governance and rampant corruption in the forestry sector.

Overgrazing and unsustainable range management

Large cattle size and many goats may be a blessing for farmers, but when their numbers exceed the area’s natural carrying capacity, this can turn to a serious disadvantage.

When vegetation disappears, the ground becomes exposed to soil erosion, which greatly reduces its ability to grow new plants. Eroded soil also runs into rivers and out at sea, where it smothers sensitive corals.
Pollution

In Tanzania’s major towns and cities, solid and liquid wastes are left untreated. As a result, air and water are contaminated with pollutants, a major health hazard for those who live in under-privileged areas. Take Dar es Salaam for example, where few people are connected to a sewage system. The few sewage systems that exists disgorge their waste directly into the ocean, affecting marine habitats and the species that live there.
Illegal and unsustainable wildlife exploitation

In village areas, people often resort to poaching. Sometimes, this happens in retaliation to wildlife attacks which destroy crops, and hence livelihoods. Such conflicts between humans and wildlife are also straining relations between wildlife authorities and local people.

SLEEPING TIPS

1) Make space for sleep Clear your bedroom of all electronic distractions, including mobile phones, TVs and laptops, to create a more peaceful environment.
 
2) Take a bath Having a warm soak before bed will help you unwind. It will also raise your body temperature, and the drop in temperature that follows this will encourage your body to think it’s time to go to sleep. Add essential oils to your bath to enhance the effect.
 
3) Go for a run Exercising during the day can help you to nod off at night. But don’t do a tough workout too close to your bedtime, or you may struggle to drift off.
 
4) Create a no-work policy Try not to do any work-related tasks in your bedroom as it can affect your ability to switch off from your daily concerns. No emails, no bills, no stress! Make your room a haven for sleep (and sex!) only.
 
5) Get into a routine Our bodies like routine, so going to bed and waking at similar times each day (including the weekends) will help you to programme your body to sleep better.
 
6) Take in the aroma Sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow to help you drift off into a deep and peaceful sleep. Research has shown that aromatherapy with lavender can help to slow the activity of your nervous system, improve sleep quality and promote relaxation. Plus, it smells gorgeous!
 
7) Cut the coffee Avoid caffeine and other stimulants in the evenings, as they may prevent you reaching a deep sleep. Have a hot milky drink or a chamomile tea instead.
 
8) Get up If you can’t get to sleep, or you wake up during the night, don’t lie there worrying about it. Get up and do something quiet and relaxing, such as reading, for around 20 minutes – but don’t flick on the telly, it will only make your brain more alert – then head back to bed.
